Bathroom

The bathroom should be a sanctuary, whether that’s enjoying some headspace in the shower before you start the day or relaxing in a bath to ease into an evening. But, there’s nothing worse than a messy bathroom, and one that you need to clean.

Dirty and smelly, cleaning this room is the ultimate chore. Whether you’re tackling mould or attacking hard water stains, there’s often plenty of elbow grease needed. However, Twinkle Clean are here to help you ease some of the pain. Here are our top hacks for cleaning the bathroom:

  1. Streak-free glass

Keeping the door to your shower looking clean can be a real pain. The easiest way to deal with the streaks is to ensure that you rinse it post-showering and use a shower squeegee to get rid of any excess water on a daily basis.

  2. The shower head

The head gets particularly dirty but the simplest solution is to pour one cup each of water and vinegar into a plastic bag, secure this over the shower head with a rubber band – ensuring that the shower head is in the liquid – and let it stand for half an hour before rinsing it off.

  3. The shower curtain

Don’t wipe the mildew off, instead use detergent and half a cup of baking soda and put it in the washing machine. Following this, rehang it and allow to drip dry. Pro tip: Use towels or sheets to stop any rubbing during the cycle.

  4. Shower tiles and grout

To remove the mould from your shower tiles and grout, fill a spray bottle with equal measures of bleach and water before spraying the area. If you let it dry completely before rinsing off, then this should do the job.

  5. Detachable toilet seat

You may have never thought about this but installing a detachable toilet seat makes cleaning much quicker and easier. Forget having to work around the seat, just detach and wipe.

  6. Removing water spots

Get your chrome and metal fixtures sparkling after ugly water spots quickly by rubbing a freshly cut lemon across the surface.

  7. Bathtub ring

Often times, following a bath you will get a ring around the tub but you can stop this build-up from clinging to the sides by simply adding baby oil to the water whenever you are in the bath.

  8. The plughole

The bane of many lives is cleaning drains, just where does that hair come from? When it comes to the bathroom, remove the clogging with a screwdriver, skinny pliers, baking soda and vinegar – found out about it here. Alternatively, many people swear by a tablet of Alka Seltzer and a cup of vinegar.

So, there you have it, cleaning the bathroom doesn’t need to be a huge drama. Regular maintenance using the right products and hacks can save time and money, and leave you enjoying a clean room. Need a little help getting everything tidy, too? Take a look at these life hacks.
